You know you’re at a good venture capital conference when rappers steal the show.

Attendees at the Upfront Summit this year got to enjoy Chamillionaire, who’s working on his new startup called Convoz (an asynchronous videos platform).

Of course, rappers have been angel and VC investors for some time.

          1. Snoop Dogg.

“Snoop Dogg’s fund, Casa Verde, led a $2 million seed round in Trellis, a cannabis inventory management firm.” (via Business Insider). He has other investments: Reddit, Robinhood, Philz Coffee, DOG for DOG, and Eaze.

2. will.i.am

 “Former Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am, aka William James Adams, has backed everything from Israeli tech firm Shellanoo Group (a technology incubator and venture builder) to Austin-based startup Honest Dollar (offers a platform for small businesses to begin offering retirement benefits to their employees) which was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2016.” -read more at Moguldom

There are many rappers in the startup game: Jay Z, Nas, 50 Cent, Russell Simmons, Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Will Smith, etc.

    Robbinhood is seen as a competitor to Coinbase.

    Yes, wasn't he an early investor in Uber (2011) ? Also, in JetSmarter (the Uber of private jets).
