I am reading Wizard’s First Rule, a novel by Terry Goodkind. This is the first book in the epic fantasy series The Sword of Truth.
I love the description of the Seeker that Zedd the Wizard gives Richard Cypher:
“A Seeker is a person who answers to no one but himself; he is a law unto himself. The Sword of Truth is his to wield as he wishes, and within the limits of his own strengths, he can hold anyone to answer to anything...
You see, Richard, a Seeker does exactly as the name implies: he seeks. He seeks the answer to things. Things of his own choosing. If he is the right person, he will seek answers that will help others, not just himself. The whole purpose of a Seeker is to be free to quest on his own, to go where he wants, ask what he wants, learn what he wants, find answers to what he wants to know, and if need be, do whatever it is the answers demands.”
Terry Goodkind
Are you a Seeker ?
Well, I expect that you are, or at least strive towards it, because this blog is arguably the number one of all blogs for men. The rest are gossip and outrage, garbage politics (Cernovich, anyone ?), virtue sandbagging and trivia. Most of the men’s blogs are garbage. Some shitbags keep it in the family (the *playboys* are for those that made $1 million in their 20s), others are maybe for penny-pitchers and rugrats. A flat-tire is still a flat-tire whether it’s attached to a Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 or a $1000 used car, but don’t tell those *playboys*. The dumb squad of Twitter sell their time for pennies…leading to the inevitable conclusion of what their *advice* is worth.
Whether you have $10 to your name or $100 MM: my writings are still good.
Whether you’re 22 or 62…my writings are still good.
That’s the beauty of it.
Someone might ask…what am I doing reading a fantasy novel. Real shit is out there…
Aside from Goodkind being a talented writer, the title picked up my interest.
Wizard’s First Rule…
I had to wait until page 560 to find out what that rule was.
Wait for it.
Wait for it.
It’s after this movie video, which you may skip.
Wizard’s First Rule: “People are stupid.” -Terry Goodkind
You fuckers didn’t see that coming, because most you think you’ve discovered this world, that it is new and somehow special. Nothing ever is new and nothing is ever special.
“People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it it is false, yet they think it is true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are easier to fool.” –
Zed, The Old Wizard, in Wizard’s First Rule
Never forget this.
Great.
I am a seeker.
