I have not made a Christmas Shopping Holiday List post this year (If you’re interested in reading last years posts, go here for 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 X2). There always are interesting things to buy, for sure. Examples: a 2-person far infrared sauna, or Cuccio Natural Milk & Honey Cuticle Revitalizing Oil. On this blog I’m not promoting mindless consumption. That’s your wife‘s job, if you have one.

2020 has been a horrible year for most people. Working people, that is. With oligarchs…that’s a different story. They gorge and gaggle on on their fat-cow munchies.

The markets have performed surprisingly well (markets don’t care how many people die of Covid, people) , and nothing bested Tesla. Tesla bulls are in haven. Since 2018, Tesla has surged some 1,276%. [Still] The most-shorted stock in history, Tesla is now the 6th biggest company in the U.S. It was added to the S&P 500 Index on Dec. 21.

Tesla (ticker: TSLA) is only the sixth company to reach that milestone[over $600 Bn] in U.S. markets recently, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The others are Amazon.com (AMZN), Facebook (FB), Apple (AAPL), Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MFST).

Barron’s

“Elon Musk owns 193.3 million Tesla shares, representing 20.7% of total shares outstanding, according to a 13G filing for the period ending December 31, 2019.”

S-1 Filing

Other than Tesla, of course we know food taxi companies like DoorDash as well as apartment taxicabs such as Airbnb did extremely well this year.

There were other developments in 2020 we have addressed here such as the SPAC Goldrush.

On this blog, however, we don’t write market updates or research.

My focus is bringing forth the knowledge and fortitude rulers hide from their minions. Restoring masculinity and the virtue of the Paterfamilias.

A shot goes out to reader Steve for compiling and sending us this information.

Steve’s email appropriately says:

“Max has done more to opening my eyes than any of the crummy, big name operators. In the men’s Internet space, there is only one Max Cantor.”

Steve

Thank you, Steve. In a world full of crummy wannabes and Twitter jockey scum, I run this blog going on 7 years straight providing useful information to better the lives of thousands.

Yale University is offering a free course online — The Science of Well-Being — that teaches you “how to be happier”.

Hurry this course starts today, Oct. 9th and from what I can read 428 thousand people already have enrolled. Business Insider wrote a article on this course last Spring (Mara Leighton, April 4th, 2019). FYI, if you wondered what about Harvard…the world’s most elite institution, guess what: the most popular course in its history is also a course on happiness. It is called “Positive Psychology.” (this one it is not available online or for free to the public).

If you don’t know how to swim…or just need help with it, the Swimator Blog has the basics.

Tai Chi – it seems that Tai Chi is not just for old people, and it is an actual martial art (I had no idea that it was)

My note: Should I teach a course ? Should I do an online course, I was asked recently. My answer:, maybe. Don’t expect it to be free, however. And don’t expect it to be a course on happiness, either. When you’re competing at the level you and I are competing, this course is going to be something else. Something that has never been done.

Now let’s not leave Stanford Uni jealous on Yale for its mention.

Last night on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel they featured a man by the name of Ashrita Furman.

Ashrita is a remarkable individual who since 1979 has set 628 world records, of which 205 are still standing. He is featured in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Happiness is progress and reaching a goal, says Ashrita.

Is Ashrita a model for “psycho executing” at the highest level ? I think so.

Let’s refer to a concept known as “Bloom’s Taxonomy”. Dr. Benjamin S. Bloom initiated “Bloom’s Taxonomy of learning in 1956 as a design and evaluation toolkit for academic education. Today it is applicable to all types of learning.

There are three domains in Bloom’s Taxonomy:

  1. Cognitive Domain (knowledge)
  2. Affective Domain (attitude)
  3. Psychomotor Domain (skills) (Wikipedia)

Bloom believes that all three domains are important, however, Ashrita’s performances fall under the psychomotor “domain”.

“A domain simply means category. What is the Psychomotor Domain? The Psychomotor Domain is skill based and refers to the learning of skills. Physical skills are the ability to move, act, or manually manipulate the body to perform a physical movement. What is taxonomy? Taxonomy is a structure, a plan, or a checklist to assist in planning training to cover each development stage of the learner’s growth. It is important that each stage is mastered before moving on to the next stage.”

There are five stages of Dave’s Psychomotor Domain: Imitation, Manipulation, Precision, Articulation, and Naturalization.

Where can you start to increase your “joy” ? You can start anywhere. Any goals, no matter how small or silly that you accomplish and train your psychomotor skills are useful.
