“Through passion, I gain strength“. That sounds right. What I see flawed with the Sith is unchecked power. If the Sith are not ruled by reason, they’re bound to self destruct.

CEOs act like Sith until they’ve reach the pinnacle. Once they’re there, however, they become Jedis. Once at the top, they turn on the “feel good-do good” spigot. They become concerned with the welfare of others. Once at the top of the food chain, their focus shifts from slicing other people’s heads off to maintaining goodwill. Staying power is achieved with benevolence and service to others. A father or a godfather would not wage war on his family, so neither does a CEO that wants his job.

At one time I considered writing a book “The CEO Code” but I don’t think it a good idea anymore. Such a book would be earth shattering. The Evan Spiegels, Mark Zuckerbergs would move to ban it. Alas, Donald Trump would buy a dozen and gift them to each of his sons and grandsons ! You can’t poke into a pit pf snakes and not expect to be bitten. The CEOs will continue writing their glamorous autobiographies and feed the public “what a wonderful life” tales.

“There is no emotion, there is peace. Fear is the path to the dark-side“-Jedi folk. I say fear is not something the Siths would want on their plate either. In fact, if fear was what turned Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader, Anakin failed miserably not only as a Jedi, but as a Sith also. The fear of loss left him powerless and them he sought power in rage. So you see Anakin was destined to fail.

“Act dispassionately” -say the Jedi. A boss that acts dispassionately is actually passionate and subtle.  How a person acts has nothing to do with their passion levels. It has to do with control, with having their mind “wise counsel”. A person who doesn’t control himself is a poor master of everything.

The narrator of the video says”raging channel through anger is unstoppable” and the “The force shall free me.” -Sith. Channeling anger into action is great, since anger is self-destructive. However, it doesn’t look Sith are very successful in channeling that anger. This is illustrated in the crooked, ugly physiques of the Sith.  I think anger consummation is Sith’ Achilles heel.

Both the Sith and the Jedi codes have some good parts, but leaders -I took CEOs as examples- don’t follow a single code, they blend and stir up the right poison for the public and competition. If there’s a religion for CEOs, I can only think of one: ruthlessness. Still, CEOs, unlike the Sith , are fearless, like the Jedi. Their sign if they had one is the chameleon.I used to say about the CEO of a company I worked for: “He’s a heel, but only on the outside.”

I got a nice comment on the whole Sith and Jedi code where a reader tells me about the satisfaction of the “blade that cuts the enemy dry”. Is that emotion productive ? Is it Sith ?

Answer: Destroying the enemy (figuratively) is one of the most liberating feeling there is. It is shared by Jedi and Sith alike. It is the Force coming alive. Winners ride high on the satisfaction of winning. I do believe there is a transfer of energy. (no need to kill, though).

The Sith thrive on conflict while the Jedi seek to extinguish conflict. Are these ways so different after all ?
