Last weekend the Wall Street Journal published a front-page article, My Secret Life: Working Remotely-At Two Jobs (Rachel Feintzeig) detailing how some people work two jobs from home (same hours) naturally, pocketing two paychecks. Not everybody can do this, for sure, it seems those fine and dry engineers -coders and developers -are the best suited for it.

Sometimes they log on to two meetings at once… There’s even a website, Overemployed, that aims to rally workers around the concept of steadily holding multiple jobs, framing as a way to wrest back control after decades of stalled wages.”

The WSJ

“He spends his days switching off among 3 laptops -work personal, and work job 2….To maintain separation and secrecy, other workers swear by color-coding browser windows or using external microphones that can be muted without alerting others on a video call. One worker manages double meetings by logging on to one via computer and other via his phone.”

WSJ

“When the worker gets called on simultaneously in both meetings – it happens -he drops one call, answers the other’s query and then pops back onto the dropped call.

Sorry, he had a network issue. What was the question again?

Even better: Evade the meeting altogether. He often tells colleagues he doesn’t think their issue requires a call, and he can help them faster on Slack.

WSJ

The Wall Street Journal verified the workers’ accounts by examining offer letters, employment contracts, concurrent pay stubs and corporate emails. Most of them say they are on track to earn a total of $200,000 to nearly $600,000 a year, including bonuses and stock. They have paid off chunks of student-loan debt, plumped their kids’ college-savings accounts and bought everything from an engagement ring to a sports car with the extra cash.

The money is incredible, the 29-year-old software engineer says.

WSJ

The article has generated 586 comments thus far. Software development, man. That’s the dream.

You’ve probably already read Treasury Dept. yesterday’s Press Release (full text).

“Treasury and the Small Business Administration expect to have this program up and running by April 3rd so that businesses can go to a participating SBA 7(a) lender, bank, or credit union, apply for a loan, and be approved on the same day.  The loans will be forgiven as long as the funds are used to keep employees on the payroll and for certain other expenses.”

“This unprecedented public-private partnership is going to assist small businesses with accessing capital quickly. Our goal is to position lenders as the single point-of-contact for small businesses – the application, loan processing, and disbursement of funds will all be administered at the community level,” said Administrator Carranza. “Speed is the operative word; applications for the emergency capital can begin as early as this week, with lenders using their own systems and processes to make these loans. We remain committed to supporting our nation’s more than 30 million small businesses and their employees, so that they can continue to be the fuel for our nation’s economic engine.”

The new loan program will help small businesses with their payroll and other business operating expenses. It will provide critical capital to businesses without collateral requirements, personal guarantees, or SBA fees – all with a 100% guarantee from SBA. All loan payments will be deferred for six months. Most importantly, the SBA will forgive the portion of the loan proceeds that are used to cover the first eight weeks of payroll costs, rent, utilities, and mortgage interest.”

Dept. of Treasury

Here’s the link to the application if you’re a small business owner affected by the Covid-19 closure.

I wish bossman Hank Paulson was still Secretary of the Treasury. From what I hear from my friends, he’s still heading the Paulson Institute, focused on fintech.

We’re leaving the nerds behind today.

Did you really think I like talking about The Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT), SIEVE, Cross-Fault Tolerance (XFT), Proof of Elapsed Time, Hyperledger Iroha, Hyperledger Burrow, Ripple & Stellar Blockchain, Ripple Consensus Protocol Algorithm, Stellar Consensus Protocol Algorithm, and other nerdy stuff ? No way !

Three readers who wished to remain anonymous and self-described themselves as “woman-pros” emailed me with their “Corona -time” women lay tips. While the rest of the male population (sadly including myself) have less lays these days, three guys, Bill, Evan and Mike, say they’ve increased their lays -the number of women they’ve slept with – organically and under the conditions of “social-distancing”.

How the fuck is that possible if public venues are closed, you can’t go to show, a pub, a meeting and (for most) you can’t even travel anywhere ? At first I thought they’re getting the women who smoke cigars – like the guy below probably did.

Fidel was a womanizer alright

This is what these three noble gentlemen had to say (mix-and-match)

Bill: It’s nurses time

Nurses and health-care workers have their priorities straight. I got a nurse whom I spotted in a parking lot on a same-day lay. I came straight-faced to her when she was almost getting ready to get into her car:

  • I said: I know you’re washing your hands. Let’s go home and get into the shower together.
  • She looked at me starry-eyed and said: I’m sorry ?
  • I said: You know hygiene and contamination protocols. C’mon , let’s go. I live 10 minutes away – a short walk. Leave your car where it is.
  • Her: Whaaat ?
  • I said: You’ve worked hard all day. You can’t even go outside without a mask anymore. Leave your stuff in your car. Let’s go.

We went over to my place and it was a better fuck than I’ve had in weeks…and the best she ever had, to be sure. Remember: a nurse, coming from work (she was still wearing nurse uniform) is ready.

Evan: Grocery store soldier

In a grocery store I spotted a hottie in black leggings, blond hair cropped short, good curves. Once she crossed my path more than twice I knew it was time to act.

  • From a distance: Me: I’ve been doing some running myself, you know.
  • Her: No response.
  • Me: As long as we’re keeping the 6 feet distance, I feel safe. (looking over my shoulders, 360 degrees around)
  • Her (responding for the first time): I know.
  • Me [looking over the items in her cart]: Boy, I’m glad these nut cases left some cheese for us.
  • Her: no response.
  • Me: You’re not working now, are you ?
  • Her: No.
  • Me: I just can’t stand it. What’s your number ? I’ll call you in a few hours to check up on you.
  • Her: Gives out phone number. After I entered it, I got her to say her name out to me, then left. Easy-peasy.

Mike: Old contact lay

Yesterday morning I went though my phone. I have to say I never cleaned my phone list, not in last 5 years for sure. Although I do have it organized-a bit-, there are plenty of numbers of women that for some reason or another I never followed up on. I thought that I should call some of these numbers. And so I called Nancy, who I must have met two years ago at a meeting. I think it was a formal meeting of sorts. Phone rang, and she answered.

  • I said: Hey.
  • Her: Hello, who is it ?
  • Me: This is Mike. Met you some time ago.
  • Her: Ahh.
  • Me: You’re at home ?
  • Her: Yes
  • Home alone ?
  • Her: Yes.
  • Me: You’re not working.
  • Her: No.
  • Me: Bad girl (laughing)
  • They’re keeping us safe like pets in a cage.
  • Her: says nothing, except suave giggle.
  • Me again: I know where you live you live by 24th street (I had no idea where she actually lived)
  • Her: No, I live in East Flatiron.
  • Me: Are you washing your hands ?
  • Her: I do.
  • Me: I have to see you do it.
  • Her: But I do.
  • Me: I’m not saying you don’t, I have to see you doing it. I’m coming over there. Unless your mom is there too. (I threw that in there, although she first said -lied- she was all alone)
  • Her: She is.
  • Me: Then come over to my place. No, wash your hands first, then come on over.
  • Her: I don’t know
  • Me: You know to wash you hands, don’t you. Come over, Cinderella.
  • Her: Who is Cinderella
  • Me: You. (I texted her my address) Tell your mom you’re going to the grocery store ’cause you need something for a smoothie
  • Her: What smoothie ?
  • Me: The one you’ll be having at my place.
  • Her : No response
  • That’s it. I already made it. It’s Mm-mm.

She made it. And we had one smooth-of-a-time. So my tips for folks: answering machines – hang up. Disconnected old numbers -remove. Hard nos- remove. Soft nos -90% they are hard nos. Remember: it started with a phone call, NOT a text. Do not text a woman who may not even remember you.

Videos, Page Two: Women smoking cigars -NSFW unless you’re working at home

If you’ve been following this blog for awhile, you know I have have an interest in the metaphysical.

  • The worst you can do is follow the news.
  • The best you can do is stay away from the news.
  • Information in this digital age is, in a way, a virus

I’ve already talked about the mistake of underestimating the economic disastrous effects of the quarantine, the second (economic) curve which IS NOT an epidemiological curve (the one that follows the spread of the virus). So this is not what we are going to be talking about today.

What if, this virus, or any virus, is seen as what it is, an energy signature ?

If you’re laughing at “energy signatures”, nuclear medicine is a field based on “energy signatures”.

After all, we humans, have infected and arguably are at the point of destroying the Earth. Some will say humanity is the worst infection on Earth that ever was. [not that I necessarily agree with that]. From outer space, modern civilization even looks like a cancer spread out over this planet…

I reckon after this is over -over generations – this virus DNA will become part of your [future] human DNA.

[suggested reading: Rats are New-Yorkers, too.]

From that perspective, we are only fighting our future selves. We are always fighting ourselves.

Some people say thoughts are a form of energy. But they can’t elaborate on it. We’ll leave it at that.

If the virus could talk, it wouldn’t overpower the hosts. (Why self-destroy ?)

The virus wants to find a new host, the host fights it, and…

Can’t we all just get along ?

If you didn’t have something that it wants, the virus wouldn’t be banging at your door. Simple logic just scares people out of their wits. I wonder why any scientists haven’t studied the original animals who had passed on the virus (pangolins, bats or whatever). See what kind of a deal have those bats cut with the virus.

Back to metaphysics: Is your “energy signature” hospitable/attractive to this virus ?

All things, including humans, have a certain vibration. Your geniuses at Harvard even mapped it out.

What makes for a hospitable host ? Inhospitable host ?

Are you “syncing up” with the virus ? [Side read: The Hippies were right: It’s all about vibration, Man , Tam Hunt, Dec. 5, 2018]

But that’s for another time.

Until next time,

Max

U.S. stocks plunged Thursday in their worst day since the 1987 Black Monday crash, ending the 11-year bull market. If you’ve been following my blog, you know I expected a downturn and an end to the bull market in the last quarter of 2017. When that didn’t happened, the dumbshits laughed at me; the same dumbshits who now are screaming “corona virus” hurt.

“Billionaires and bosses at the top of Wall Street didn’t see things getting so bad so fast.

Some of the world’s most famous hedge fund managers gathered on Sunday night at the Capital Grille near Rockefeller Center, a steakhouse where the double-cut lamb chops with mint gremolata run $53. There was John Paulson, who made his billions from the housing collapse that helped trigger the last financial crisis. And David Einhorn, who came out on top when the dot-com bubble burst. And Dan Loeb, who got rich by baring the sharpest teeth.

But these masters of capitalism, brought together by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., were lacking their usual swagger. Instead, they spent the night trying to grasp what was going on as the coronavirus known as Covid-19 raged around the world and a fight between Russians and Saudis hurled the oil market into chaos, according to people there. The fallout could resemble the 2008 crisis, the 2001 collapse, global chaos in 1998, or something else—the very investors who made their fortunes from them weren’t sure. They stared into phones that told them stock futures were falling so much that trading would soon be halted…”

Bloomberg News

The corona virus story is just a black swan event, an event that didn’t happen (more than) two years ago, and because it happened now instead of earlier, the downturn will also be more severe: we’re looking at not just a plunge, but a recession.

Earlier = better, later (2020) = worse. After plunging earlier, Bitcoin bounced above 5K, oil is in free fall, gold held steady, palladium fared worse.

Only those who don’t know the basics are bulshitting about the Coronavirus.

“Gary Cohn, Goldman’s longtime president before he became Trump’s top economic adviser, said the Saudi news on Sunday was an “Oh, my God” moment.”

Bloomberg

Come’on Gary…Don’t you read this blog…

“I do think financial people live in a different world,” said Derman, a former Goldman Sachs managing director. “It’s their job to think about how other people will react. Maybe they can’t do that.”

Bloomberg

They should have seen it coming two years ago…maybe three.

I did.

Because I know the Wizard’s First Rule…And you do too.

If I were to conduct a survey among my readers on which is their single most-prized, more endearing and the most satisfying thing they are after my gut tells me that freedom will be their answer. Of course, freedom comes in many ways; there is freedom of action, financial freedom, freedom of choice of a life partner where you choose not just the partner, but the length of the partnership. That makes one chuckle: getting married for 3 years, right ? How would you like them apples ? What about freedom from the mind ? Freedom from time (hey, time rules over the rich and the poor alike !)

I was watching an Eckart Tolle video last night where he says that to get out of over-thinking one must have the spiritual rigor to come out of perception as opposed to thinking. And of course mindfulness. Not following the thought. But I want to go beyond that.

“Only like can know like. So to know God we must become like God. To do this, Hermes advises us to imagine ourselves at all places at all time, to see ourselves as still in the womb and yet already dead.”

The Hermetica: The Lost Wisdom of the Pharaohs

It seems that God (if there is one) does something spectacular, he takes time out of the equation. (he also takes the space out, but I’m not going to dwell on that). I wrote about memory and time earlier (see also here).

Q: Max, what happens when we die ?

A: Same thing that happened to you when you were born.

Me

If you want to be like the Big G (God, not gangster here…or maybe ?!) you must constantly recreate yourself. Come out of your own ashes.

Memory plays a funny game. It goes back and forth, back and forth on that line… Timeline that is… But it is only from what it says, is the beginning. So Buddhists have designed this visualization exercise a long time ago, where you see yourself on your deathbed, and work your way backward from there.

So timeline seems vulnerable to mind exploits, but what about time ? Is time that solid we can’t break it ?

Time is clearly a creation of the mind. How come it is that strong and is always referencing you back ?

It is time that crucifies you. For the ultimate freedom is freedom from time. Freedom from the mind. Freedom from thinking.
